Marcus Witkowski, a finalist at the 2026 NCSA Spring Championship, has announced his commitment to swim for Colorado Mesa University beginning in the fall of 2026.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Colorado Mesa University! Swimming has been a huge part of my life, and I am incredibly grateful for every step of the journey that has led me here. I started competing in Poland with the G8 Bielany Warszawa, then had the honor of representing Fremd High School, while continuing to grow as an athlete training with Reach Aquatics. Every experience along the way has helped shape me into the athlete and person I am today. I want to thank my parents for their endless love and support, as well as all of my coaches from G8, Fremd, and Reach—especially Coaches Monika, Ed, Jim, Aaron, Marcin, Adams, Daniel, Knowles, Gacek and Newbys—and my teammates who have pushed me, supported me, and helped me grow throughout the years. I would not be where I am today without you. I also want to thank the coaching staff at Colorado Mesa for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity to continue my journey both academically and athletically. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to become part of the Mavericks family!”
Witkowski recently graduated from Fremd High School in Illinois, where he competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team all four years. He currently trains year-round with Reach Aquatics Swim Club and primarily specializes in back and fly.

Less than a month later, he turned in three more strong swims at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships, where he contested the 100 back (50.32 – SB), 200 back (1:51.75) and 100 fly (50.45 – PB).
At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championship, Witkowski earned a second swim in one event and clocked three lifetime best performances. He placed 25th in the 50 back (22.86 – PB), in addition to racing the 100 back (50.06), 200 back (1:51.58), 50 fly (23.98) and 100 fly (51.29). He also set new personal best times in the 50 free (21.76) and 100 free (47.83) as the leadoff on the 200 free relay and 400 free relay, respectively.
Witkowski qualified for the IHSA (Illinois High School Association) Boys State Championship three years in a row starting as a sophomore, with his top performances coming at the 2026 iteration in February. He placed 7th in the 100 back in a lifetime best time of 49.36 and finished 18th in the 100 fly in 50.69.

A Division II program, Colorado Mesa competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, with the men’s and women’s teams clinching their eighth consecutive sweep at this past season’s conference championships. The men sent 18 athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division II Championship, where they finished 3rd overall.
Based on the results from the 2026 RMAC Championships, Witkowski would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 back and 200 back and the ‘B’ final in the 100 fly, setting him up to be a key contributor right from the start.
The full list of recruits set to join Witkowski in Colorado in the fall includes Daniel Bordin, Jake Barela, Emerson Tully, Denny Woods, Brody Blatt, Brix Dewitt, Austin Felio and Brady Bennett, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
