Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
North Carolina high school state champion Georgia Howard has announced her verbal commitment* to swim and study at Dartmouth College beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
It’s been a long time coming… GO BIG GREEN!!! Huge thank you to the entire Dartmouth Swim and Dive family, Coach Milana, Coach Blair, and Coach Allison for welcoming me into your incredible community and for this opportunity — I am SO excited. I also want to thank Coach Dave for smiling through the multitude of plot twists and side quests that have occurred over the past few years — I truly wouldn’t be here without your support. Most importantly, thank you to the people who have leant into the toughest moments with authenticity and a positive attitude — you guys never fail to make me laugh and remind me what this sport is really about! I’m beyond grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey. GBG!!!
A rising senior at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, Howard has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Mecklenburg Swim Association, where she primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly.
Howard is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 season that saw her drop over four seconds in the 200 free, more than two seconds in the 200 fly, just over a second in the 100 free and 100 fly, and a few tenths in the 50 free. She clocked her current PBs of 23.51 in the 50 free, 50.79 in the 100 free, 1:52.68 in the 200 free, 55.32 in the 100 fly, and 2:03.66 in the 200 fly across three club meets throughout the season: the NC ATOM Winter Invite in December, the North Carolina Senior Championships in February, and Speedo Sectionals – Cary in March.
On the high school scene, Howard helped Providence Day win the 400 free relay (51.70 split) and take bronze in the 200 free relay (23.65 anchor) at the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) Division I State Championships in February, in addition to taking fourth in the 100 free (52.24) and fifth in the 50 free (23.97).
Top SCY Times:
- 50 Freestyle: 23.51
- 100 Freestyle: 50.79
- 200 Freestyle: 1:52.68
- 100 Butterfly: 55.32
- 200 Butterfly: 2:03.66
A Division I program, Brown competes in the Ivy League Conference, with the women’s team placing seventh out of eight teams at this past season’s conference championships. Howard’s current personal bests in the 100 and 200 fly would have qualified for the ‘C’ finals, while she’s already within striking distance of the 23.32, 50.72, and 1:51.37 required in the 50, 100, and 200 free. That already sets her up to be an immediate contributor, with two full seasons of training still ahead before lining up for the team at her first conference meet.
Howard joins Lexi Smith, Arden Keitel, Elise Panna, and Elise Nguyen in committing to Dartmouth’s class of 2031 so far.
*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
