Nick Pezzella, who competes for the South Jersey Aquatic Club, has verbally committed to swim at Georgetown University as part its class of 2026. Pezzella is primarily a breaststroke/IM specialist.

At the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships (yards) in April, Pezzella dropped new personal best times in his 100 breaststroke (55.45) and 400 IM (4:05.47). At this meet, he also picked up his first Summer Juniors Cut in the 100 breaststroke.
Pezzella is a rising senior at Cherry Hill High School East. In high school competition, he finished 15th at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 100 breaststroke in February of 2020 as a sophomore. Since then, he knocked more than three seconds off his lifetime best in the event, though he didn’t race at that meet as a junior. As a senior, he should contend for the event title, which is the equivalent of an individual state championship in New Jersey.
His best times in SCY are:
- 50 freestyle: 21.78
- 100 freestyle: 48.86
- 200 freestyle: 1:42.20
- 100 breaststroke: 55.45
- 200 breaststroke: 2:02.33
- 200 IM: 1:51.78
- 400 IM: 4:05.47
Pezzella’s progression in high school, especially in the 200 breaststroke, has been impressive. In spite of being a very good 200 freestyler, much better than the average breaststroker, and a very good 100 breaststroker, it wasn’t until his junior season that Pezzella really put together a top-class 200 breaststroke.

Pezzella will make an immediate impact upon arrival to Washington, D.C. With his current best times, he comes in as #3 all-time in the 100 breaststroke, #5 all-time in the 200 breaststroke, and #7 all-time in the 200 IM for the Hoyas.
At the Conference level, Pezzella will be an immediate threat. With his current best times, he would have won the 100 breaststroke, placed 4th in the 200 breaststroke, and 8th in the 200 IM at the 2021 Big East Conference Championships.
Pezzella recently competed at the 2021 Futures Championships (LCM) in Richmond, Virginia. He earned new personal bests in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.28), 200 breaststroke (2:25.27), 200 IM (2:14.69), and 400 IM (4:46.33).
Pezzella also time trialed a 50 freestyle (25.51) which was a massive personal best time. His sprint freestyle yards times have improved, which could potentially allow Pezzella to swim on relays for the Hoyas. Pezzella has previously earned NISCA All-American Status as a part of Cherry Hill High School East’s 200 free relay (2019-2020).
Pezzella joins fellow Futures Championship qualifiers Conor Jellig and Max Larock as members of the incoming class of 2026.
