Ava Goodno, a Speedo Juniors qualifier and Speedo Sectionals finalist, has announced her commitment to the University of Minnesota for the 2023-2024 season. Goodno is from Muskego, Wisconsin where she swims for the Elmbrook Swim Club. She is currently in her senior year at Franklin High School.

Goodno specializes in the breaststroke, sprint free, and IM events. At the 2021 Wisconsin Division I (big schools) State Championships, she swam the 100 free and 100 breast. She finished fifth in the 100 breast (1:04.19) and ninth in the 100 free (52.08), the latter marking a new personal best.

In July, Goodno competed at the Minneapolis Speedo Sectionals, where her top finish came in the 100 breast (1:14.97), placing 22nd. She also made finals in the 200 breast, finishing 27th in a new best of 2:42.25.
At the Speedo Junior Nationals this past August, Goodno swam the 100 breast in a time of 1:13.90, with her best of 1:12.50 having been set at the 2021 Wisconsin Senior State Meet.
The University of Minnesota is a Division 1 program that competes in the Big Ten conference.
At the 2022 Big Ten Championships, the Minnesota women finished sixth out of 12 teams. The Gopher women have finished in sixth place for three straight seasons, finishing at least that high every year since 2003. Their point total of 838.5 was their highest score since 2019.
Goodno joins six other women in the class of 2023 with her commitment These include two Serbian National Team members, Mina and Anja Kaljevic, and the top 2023 recruit out of Minnesota, Katie McCarthy.
