SCAD Hires Former TCU Assistant Rob Zamorano As Next Head Coach

Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) has announced Rob Zamorano as the next head coach of its men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs. Zamorano replaces Dave Gendernalik who resigned this offseason after spending one season with the program.

“I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to have been offered the opportunity to lead this historic program,” Zamorano said. “The support from Amanda and the rest of the athletics department has been incredible and I’m excited to be able to contribute to the vision of what this athletics department is trying to do.”

Zamorano most recently spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Texas Christian University (TCU). The TCU women were 3rd out of 8 teams at the 2024 Big 12 Championships while the men finished 2nd out of 5 teams.

Prior to TCU, Zamorano spent a season as a volunteer assistant in the ACC at Florida State. While at Florida State, he also was as assistant coach of Club Seminole, the USA Swimming affiliated team of Florida State that allows collegiate athletes to compete in summer meets.

Zamorano spent his collegiate career at Division II Barton College in North Carolina. While at Barton, Zamoramo helped the men’s program win their first conference titles at the 2019 and 2020 Conference Carolinas Championships. He also remains one of the fastest freestylers of the program to this day, as he sits at #2 all-time in the men’s 1000 and 1650 freestyles as well as #3 all-time in the 200 and 500 freestyles. He graduated in 2020 with a double major in exercise science and psychology.

Zamorano will return to his home state of Georgia as he originally is from Woodstock, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. Savannah is about 4 hours away from Atlanta.

SCAD has been one of the biggest powerhouse programs at the NAIA level over the last decade. The women captured the NAIA titles from 2018-2020 and finished 7th this past season. The men were 2nd at the NAIA Championships from 2016-2022 but fell to 5th this past spring.
