Savannah Fitzgerald to Swim and Play Water Polo at Pacific

Savannah Fitzgerald, a senior at Clovis North High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend University of the Pacific in Stockton, California as a dual-sport athlete in both Water Polo and Swimming. Fitzgerald is a 3-year All-American in water polo and has been Clovis North’s leading scorer for the last two years. She also leads the team in assists and turnovers. During the summer, she plays club water polo for Royal Water Polo Academy in Clovis. Her parents told SwimSwam, “She is elated to be able to compete in both sports as a Tiger!”

Fitzgerald is a member of the Clovis North swim team, where she holds 3 individual school records, 50 freestyle (24.2), 100 backstroke (58.8), and 100 breaststroke (1:06.8), and is a member of two record-holding relay teams. Fitzgerald has swum at the CIF state meet in each of the last two years and competes year round with Clovis Swim Club. Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 23.99
  • 100 free – 54.55
  • 50 back – 27.44
  • 100 back – 58.89
  • 100 breast – 1:06.71
  • 200 IM – 2:14.72

In water polo, the Pacific Tigers finished second in the Golden Coast Conference and 16th in the country last season. In swimming they were fifth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships. Fitzgerald would have just missed the cutoff for the B final in the 50 free, 100 back, and 100 breast at the 2016 MPSF conference meet (which only scores an A and a B final). She will join the University of the Pacific class of 2021 with Kathleen Gani from Diamond Bar, California, and Clovis Swim Club teammate Skylar Elkington
