Meet Results

29-year-old Russian Olympian Sergey Fesikov wrapped up an impressive campaign in Obninsk while competing at the Central Federal District Championships this week. Spanning March 12th-15th, the Championships saw Fesikov rake in a trio of golds, including victories in the 50m back, 100m free and 50m butterfly.

First up in the 50m back, Fesikov scorched a time of 24.74 to crush the field and register a new personal best. Entering the meet, the 6’8″ swimmer’s fastest effort ever was the 24.88 he produced back in 2014 at the Russian Championships. But the versatile veteran was able to shave off .14 on night 4 of these Central District Championships for gold in the world’s fastest time this season.

Fesikov also found success in the 100m freestyle on the final night, cranking out the only sub-49 second time of the field for a golden mark of 48.92. That checks-in among the European Short Course silver medalist’s top 10 personal times in the event and represents his fastest since 2014.

Finally, the men’s 50m butterfly field also saw Fesikov come out on top, as the Russian nailed a winning mark of 23.78 over Mikhail Vekovishchev who fell just .03 shy in 23.81. Both men were the competitors to dip under the 24-second threshold and are now rank among the top 20 racers in the world in the event for their efforts.

More important is a 50m race in his third best style (great in free and fly)
He probably trained a little more his backstroke while he was training his 100IM SCM and now he collects his result.
