Oakland adds 5 to Men’s Swimming Squad For 2014-15

Oakland swimming and diving head coach Pete Hovland announced today the signing of Andrew Binder, Ayrton Kasemets, Janne Markkanen, John Schihl and Seth Timmons to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. All five student-athletes are committed to enroll at Oakland University and join the swimming and diving team for the 2014-15 season.

MIT wins Winter Invite

The Engineers’ swimming and diving ended the MIT Winter Invitational in first place with 1322.5 points, ahead of Keene State, who finished in second place with 980.5 points.

De Lucca and Worrell Sweep AAC Weekly Awards

After strong performances at the USA Short Course Nationals, two swimmers from Louisville swept the weekly conference awards. Joao De Lucca took Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season, while Cardinal Kelsi Worrell was named Female Swimmer of the Week.

Shchukin Nets Third A-10 Performer Of The Week Award This Year

St. Bonaventure’s Viacheslav Shchukin has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Awards were based off performances from Dec. 2-8.

Burke Wins Fourth CAA Award This Season

Towson University senior swimmer Kaitlin Burke was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, league officials announced. It is the fourth time she earned the award this season.

Denver Claims Three Summit League Swimmer and Diver of the Week Awards

University of Denver Ross Edfort (Somerset, N.J.) won The Summit League Diver of the Week honor, while Dylan Bunch (Boulder City, Nev.) and Samantha Corea (Vancouver, British Columbia) were named The Summit League Swimmers of the Week, for the period of Dec. 2-8, The Summit League announced today.
