Andy Thomas of Upper Dublin Aquatic Club has verbally committed to the University of Tennessee, where he will join prospective teammates Eien Mcgee, Ethan Sanders, Luke Massey, and Michael Houlie in the class of 2022. He posted his announcement of social media, saying:
“I am super excited and proud to announce that I am committing my next four years to Tennessee! I couldn’t imagine a better place to call home and I can’t wait to finally be apart [sic] of the family! #Govols”
Thomas is a senior at Hatboro-Horsham Senior High School in Horsham, Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia. He won the 100 breast (55.16) as a junior at the 2017 PIAA Boys 3A Swimming & Diving Championships. That same year he was runner-up in the 200 free (1:36.47). As a senior he repeated his second-place finish in the 200 free (1:35.89) and swam legs on the runner-up 200 free and 400 free relays.
In club swimming, the NISCA All-American focuses mainly on free, breast, and IM. At Winter Juniors East, he competed in the 50/100/200 free, 100 breast, and 200 IM. He scored points for UDAC in the 200 free (18th) and as a member of all five of the relays.
