MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee swimming & diving program closed their regular season today with a senior day win over visiting Stevens Point. The win brings the women to 8-1 on the season, as their only loss came to Indiana State in their first meet of the year. The men closed the year at 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the Klotsche Natatorium
Prior to the meet, Milwaukee honored the 13 seniors on the team this year, all of whom have made significant contributions to the program during their time on the team.
“The senior meet is always one of our favorites,” head coach Kyle Clements commented. “Our stands are filled with family, friends, and alumni all to watch our seniors close out their dual meet careers in the Klotsche Natatorium. The meet is always filled with smiles, happy tears, group photos, and great swims. We couldn’t be prouder of this group, and we are looking forward to seeing what they all become.”
Janelle Schulz and Allie Buytendorp paced the women, each winning two individual events on the day. Schulz won the 200 free in 1:56.20 and the 200 IM in 2:08.88. Buytendorp’s wins came in the 100 fly, where she touched the wall in 59.38 seconds, and the 200 fly, where she recorded a time of 2:15.04
Jay Jensen helped propel the men to victory, winning two individual events on the day. The senior swimmer took the top spot in the 200 free and the 500 free. Joining Jensen on the 500 free podium were Emery Reszka in second and Vince Chiappetta in third, completing a Panther sweep of the event.
Milwaukee grabbed a sweep of the women’s 1000 free as well, as Lilly Nesson, Sasha Gesner, and Antoni Haupt placed first, second, and third, respectively. The Panther women also earned the top four spots in the 200 free, as Schulz was joined by Audrey Dixon, Jenna Fistler, and Noelle Bryan at the front of the pack.
Gesner, Dixon, and Fistler all reached podiums in other races as well, earning second place finishes in the 100 fly (Gesner), 500 free (Dixon), and 100 free (Fistler).
Grace Brehm led another Panther sweep, this time in the 100 breast, where she won with a time of 1:08.30. Brehm was followed by Hanna Degrace in second and Lucy Borlase in third. Borlase and Degrace also contributed to yet another event sweep, following victor Bella Sponseller in the 200 breast.
Both Milwaukee’s men’s and women’s diving squads finished on top of the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. On the women’s side, Julie Rebek led a sweep of both heights, followed by Therese Missiaen and Kristina Wittman in second and third, respectively. On the men’s side, Adam St. John won both heights, followed twice by Ben Stitgen in second.
The final two women’s sweeps of the day came from the 200 IM, where Grace Mayes and Kate Hackett followed closely behind Schulz to claim the podium, and the 500 free, where Erika Thomas led the way and was followed by Dixon and Grace Hudson on the podium. Hackett also earned a second place finish in the 100 back.
Led by Jackson Hodek, the men swept the 200 backstroke, as Hodek was followed by Nicholas Klenner in second and Kevin Soltys in third.
Konnor Pilger won the men’s 1000 free with a time of 9:59.53 and was followed by Chiappetta in second. Pilger also earned a third place finish in the 100 free.
Robert Petersen won his second fly event in as many days, this time the 100 with a time of 51.26 seconds. Petersen was joined on the podium by Ben Witt in third. Hayden Christiansen won the 100 back and was followed in second by Victor Kostov. Kostov put together a win of his own in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.15.
Andrew Jones finished first in the 100 breast to go with his second place performance in the 200 IM, and Travis Hull won the 200 breast after finishing the 100 in second behind Jones.
On the women’s side, Jenna Van Hoogstraten won the 100 free in 54.25 seconds and also finished second in the 50 free.
Milwaukee’s relay teams came out on top each time, with the women claiming the top two spots in both the 200 medley and the 400 free relays. On the men’s side, Milwaukee took the top two spots in the 400 free relay while finishing first and third in the 200 medley.
Other first-place finishers on the day include Skylar Ruggles (100 back), Carly Plate (50 free), Mara Freeman (200 back), Asa Sadowsky, (200 fly), and Ben Lorenz (50 free).
Johanna Edgren (2nd 200 fly), Brianna Vanden Burgt (2nd 200 back), Charlie House (2nd 50 free), Brielle Laube (3rd 100 fly), Zach McClellan (3rd 200 free), and Yassin Dwidar (3rd 200 fly) all reached individual podiums as well.
With the regular season coming to a close, the Panthers will now prepare for the Horizon League Championships, held February 14-18 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving teams swam their last regular season dual against Division I Milwaukee. The UWSP men fell with a score of 101 to Milwaukee’s 210 and the UWSP women were upended with a score of 59 to Milwaukee’s 244.
The UWSP men were led by Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah), who tabbed a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.80. Grimstad also took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.37.
Ethan Otto (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) took first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:28.81. He also took a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:09.48 and a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.30.
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.48. He also tacked on a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.55.
Grady Trask (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) registered a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.95.
Mason Releford (Vacaville, Cal./Vacaville Christian) took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.41.
The UWSP women were led by Madeline Starr, who posted a first-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:16.23.
Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) logged a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.79. Ernst also took third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.78.
Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) added two third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.01 and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.50.
The Pointers will return to action at the WIAC Championships starting on Wednesday (Feb. 14).
