Ohio State’s Li, Purdue’s Fogle Named Big Ten Co-Swimmers of the Week

Ohio State’s Liz Li and Purdue’s Emily Fogle were named the Big Ten Co-Swimmers of the Week. Li picked up an NCAA automatic qualifying cut in the 50 free at the Ohio State Invite, posting a 21.83. Fogle swept the breaststroke events at the Purdue Invite, posting a 58.88 in the 100 and a 2:07.30 in the 200. Also earning honors were Minnesota’s Yu Zhou with Diver of the Week and Northwestern’s Olivia Rosendahl with Freshman of the Week.

Co-Swimmers of the Week
Liz Li, Ohio State

So. – Shenyang, China – Old Dominican

  • Collected an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle (21.83) and added a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 100-yard freestyle (49.90) and 100-yard butterfly (53.10) at the Ohio State Invitational
  • Time in the 50-yard freestyle is currently the top time in the nation, while her 100-yard butterfly ranks No. 15
  • Recorded first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relay (1:40.11), and added second-, third- and 11th-place marks in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.20), 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, respectively
  • The Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award

Emily Fogle, Purdue

Sr. – North Barrington, Ill. – Barrington

  • Recorded a trio of first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.88), 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.30) and 400-yard medley relay (3:37.03), while adding a second-place mark in the 200-medley relay (1:40.14) at the Purdue Invitational
  • Collected NCAA automatic qualifying times in both breaststroke events, while also setting a Boilermaker record in the 100-yard breaststroke and both a Purdue and pool record in the 200-yard breaststroke
  • Time in the 200-yard breaststroke is No. 2 in the nation and 100-yard breaststroke ranks No. 5
  • Earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award

Diver of the Week

Yu Zhou, Minnesota

Jr. – Wuhan, China – Beijing College of Sports

  • Swept all three diving events at the Georgia Tech Invitational, scoring 330.40 points in the one-meter event, 369.00 points in the three-meter competition and 360.30 points on platform
  • Recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in all events
  • Earns her eighth career Diver of the Week honor
  • Last Minnesota Diver of the Week: Yu Zhou (Nov. 4, 2015)

Freshman of the Week
Olivia Rosendahl, Northwestern

Fr. – Los Angeles, Calif. – Immaculate Heart

  • Swept the diving events at the TYR Invitational, scoring 285.90 points in the one-meter event, 329.00 points in the three-meter competition and 233.80 points on platform
  • Recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in all events, and remains undefeated in the three-meter diving event this season
  • Earns her second career Freshman of the Week honor
  • Last Northwestern Freshman of the Week: Olivia Rosendahl (Nov. 4, 2015)
