Noe Ponti Impresses With 50.27 100 Fly Outing At Swiss Championships

2025 SWISS LC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Two strong performances on the men’s side highlighted day three of the 2025 Swiss Long Course Championships.

First, in the men’s 200m backstroke, Olympic medalist Roman Mityukov stopped the clock at an impressive time of 1:55.64 to take the gold.

Mityukov won the event handily, with the next closest competitor represented by Flavio Bucca who touched in 1:59.95.

For Mityukov, the 24-year-old split 27.25/29.25 (56.50)/29.74/29.40 to reach the wall in a World Championships-worthy result. He easily dipped under the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard of 1:58.07 needed to add the event to his Singapore lineup.

The Swiss dynamo now ranks #1 in the world on the season and represents the sole swimmer under the 1:56 barrier globally thus far. As another point of reference, Mityukov bagged the bronze at the 2024 Olympic Games in a time of 1:54.85, a mark within striking distance of tonight’s swim.

The men’s 100m fly was the other event in which heads turned, as Olympic medalist Noe Ponti busted out an impressive outing of 50.27 to top the podium.

Ponti opened in 23.48 and closed in 26.79 to beat the field by over three-and-a-half seconds.

His time checked in as a new season-best, surpassing the 50.67 notched in Livorno, Italy last month. He sits atop the world rankings on the season, beating American Shaine Casas, the only other sub-51-second swimmer on the planet.
