Michigan State Secures Verbal Commitment from Ohio’s Olivia Chick

“Proud to say I’ve verbally committed to continue my swimming career at Michigan State University next year! Go green!”

Olivia Chick of Yellow Springs, Ohio has given a verbal commitment to Michigan State University for 2017-18. Chick is a senior at Yellow Springs High School, for whom she was the third-place finisher in the 100y free (51.57) and the fifth-place finisher in the 200 free (1:51.31) at the 2016 Ohio State High School Division 2 Championships. Chick is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a two-time Metro Buckeye Conference Swimmer of the Meet honoree.

Chick swims year-round with Dayton Raiders. A long-axis stroke specialist, she has Winter Juniors cuts in the 100 free and she competed in the 50/100/200 freestyles and 50/100/200 backstrokes, as well as the 50 fly at the 2016 NCSA Spring Swimming Championships. Chick’s best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 23.94
  • 100 free – 50.98
  • 200 free – 1:50.26
  • 50 back – 26.63
  • 100 back – 57.11
  • 200 back – 2:03.84
