Michael Andrew had what may have been his best day of racing in Melbourne yet, starting in the 4×50 medley relay. Swimming anchor for Team USA for the first time in his career, Andrew not only split a blistering 20.3 but held off a red-hot Kyle Chalmers to touch for silver, actually out splitting Chalmers’ 20.4. Andrew was back in the 50 breast, semi-final, swimming 25.81 to tie for 5th place, qualifying for the final tomorrow.
MA isn’t having his best swim. He swam 51.93 in the prelims which was slower than his long course time. Hope he can improve for the 2023 World Champs
Great anchor for MA. The 50 speed is definitely there. It seems like his endurance for 100s is lacking at this meet. His 100IM heats were really strong but he couldn’t close in the final. I feel like his event selection especially the timing of some of the relays before individual swims was suboptimal. What was the point of him swimming the 100fly and 100br to not get out of prelims? Maybe the meet would be going better for him if this was better thought out.
I find it really odd that for someone as social as him that thrives on relays and always loves repping team USA he insists on training alone.
Surf’s up
This week, it appears to me the love or passion isn’t there anymore. 30th in 100 fly? Yes he had a good split but he has been it or miss this week and mostly miss!
Do you not realize that he tanked the 100 fly? He swam hard for a 50 then shut it down. He used it as a warm-up to the 50 free..
The endurance isn’t there.
Michael Andrew would fit really well in society 100 million years ago with the dinosaurs.
After all, he does have the trex arms in any distance above a 50
I donMt agree with everything he does
But I’m sure he could bench bench more than you with those arms. Or any other measure of strength
I bench 225… Michael Andrew hasn’t lifted in his entire existence lol
He could not bench more than me, I’d be surprised if he could clear 150
So no, Michael Andrew is not stronger than me, but thanks for providing a daily dose of much-needed comedy
But if MA isn’t stronger than you but can also go 21.4 in the 50 free LCM…does that mean he’s right??
i mean sure he can swim faster than me but that isn’t saying much in the line of strength… strength refers to weight room accomplishments, to which MA has none of, in his own word lol.
idk why this is even a point of debate, MA literally doesn’t lift, look up his interviews lol
MA’s dad could outlift you with one arm tied behind his back. Man is a beast on the weights.
Bragging about a bench of 225 is funny…unless you weigh 110?
Except he doesn’t believe the world is more that 5000 years old.
Where was he in the mens 4×50
Someone decided that Kibler should anchor so he did in 21.1 for a relay 5th place finish. MA anchored in 20.3 for a relay finish of Silver.
This guy is becoming a serious relay member!!
He is not becoming. He has already been there. 50.0 100 LCM fly split at World Championships after 21.4 LCM 59 free in same session was impressive.
