Maccabiah Games 2022 Announces Swim Coaches, Looking For Swimmers

Maccabi USA is proud to announce the appointments of the USA Open and Juniors Swim Coaches for the 21st World Maccabiah Games USA Organizing Committee. Doug Markoff, Coach at the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club in Rockville, MD and Haley Mitchell, Head coach of Occidental College will coach the Open Swim Team. Ben Zajic, Assistant Coach at Florida Atlantic University and Jordan Lieberman, Assistant Coach at the University of Kentucky will coach the U16 Swim Team.

According to Marshall Goldman, Co-chair for swimming, “We have put together a first class coaching staff that will provide tremendous guidance for our swimmers on an international stage”. The Open and U16 Swim team members will be part of the overall USA Team that will be 1,200+ members strong.

Maccabi USA is looking for qualified Jewish athletes to represent Team USA in Swimming at the 21st World Maccabiah Games in the following divisions: Girls U16 (birth years 2006-2008) & Boys U16 (birth years 2006-2008), Open Men & Women (birth year 2005 or older), Masters Men and Women (age 35+) and Paralympic (age 18+). The deadline to apply is July 1st, 2021. The team will be picked in September 2021

The 21st World Maccabiah Games are the world’s third largest international sporting event and will consist of over 9,000 athletes from 75 countries participating in 42 different sports. To learn more about the sports and age divisions offered, please visit our website.

The Maccabiah Games is more than an international sporting competition; it is a celebration of Jewish culture, unity and pride. ISRAEL CONNECT, Maccabi USA’s unique cultural and educational program takes place for seven days prior to the start of the Games. All Juniors, Youth, Open and Paralympic athletes participate in the program where they have the opportunity to tour historical and religious sites, take part in cultural identity seminars and train with their teams, all while developing lifelong relationships. Previous participants have included Anthony Ervin, Jason Lezak, Lenny Krayzelburg, Garrett Weber-Gale, Mark Spitz and many more national level athletes
