Kicking off the morning as the top seed is David Popovici of Romania who is coming off of a win in the men’s 100 freestyle in a 46.88, the 3rd fastest time in history. Popovici was only 0.08 off of the World Record. He enters as the top seed with a 1:44.70 and will look to defend his European title in the event tomorrow night. Lithuania’s Danas Rapsys is the #2 seed and had a huge anchor split on night 1 with a 1:44.90 helping the Lithuanian men to the 4×200 relay title.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Lana Pudar will take to the pool for the first time as the top seed in the women’s 100 butterfly. Pudar won both the European Junior and World Junior title in the event last year. She also won the 200 fly senior European title two years ago, winning the country their first ever title. Greece’s Anna Ntountounaki enters as the #2 seed and holds the national record in the event.
Michael Laitarovsky will swim in his first event here for Israel as the top seed in the men’s 50 backstroke. Poland’s Ksawery Masiuk also highlights the field after just missing the podium in the event at the 2023 World Championships as he finished 4th.
Denmark’s Thea Blomsterberg enters the women’s 200 breast as the top seed. Blomsterberg finaled in the event at the 2023 World Championships finishing 5th in a personal best 2:22.42. She will look to move up in the World Rankings this week as she heads into Paris. She currently sits at t-#20 in the world this season. Fellow country woman Clara Rybak-Andersen will also be one to watch as she comes in as the #3 seed.
Hungary’s Viktoria Mihalyvari Farkas is the top seed in the women’s 1500 freestyle. Something to watch for in this event from both Hungary and Finland is the two-per-country rule as both team’s have three entries.
