On Tuesday, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Lana Pudar picked up her first World Junior Championships title, winning the 200 fly in a time of 2:07.20. That time is a new championship record, beating out British swimmer Emily Large‘s former mark of 2:07.74 from 2017.

The 17-year-old Pudar led her race from start to finish and won by nearly two seconds. She was just 0.15 seconds off what she swam at the 2023 World Championships to take fourth, and was just under a second slower than her personal best of 2:06.26 set at the 2023 European Junior Championships this July.

Pudar opened her Worlds and Worlds Junior races considerably faster than her European Juniors race, but her speed on the last 150 meters for the latter race was much faster than for the former two.
