Kyle Chalmers Re-Breaks Own Junior World Record In 100 Free Semis

2016 RIO OLYMPIC GAMES

After breaking his own world junior record this morning in the men’s 100 free prelims, Australian teenage phenom Kyle Chalmers broke it yet again tonight in the semi-finals, clocking a time of 47.88.

Chalmers broke the record this morning in 47.90, which cracked his old record of 48.03 set at the Australian Olympic Trials in April.

The 18 year-old qualified 2nd overall tomorrow’s final behind only American Nathan Adrian, who actually qualified 16th after the prelims, barely advancing.

Chalmers Australian teammate Cameron McEvoy, ranked #1 in the world this year with an all-time textile best of 47.04, qualified 3rd for the final.

After not having the best last couple of days in the pool, the Australians have a very good chance of getting two men on the podium tomorrow night in the 100 free, with both in contention for gold.
