The Assistant Coach, Men’s and Women’s Swimming position will support all aspects of the Olympic sports program, including recruiting qualified athletes, coaching and instructing of student-athletes, monitoring and supporting academic progress and progression toward a degree, alumni and donor engagement, and more. This position typically identifies and recruits academically and athletically elite student-athletes, partners with the Head Coach to build a cohesive team culture, partners in scouting and producing videos to prepare the team for competition, and develops and maintains effective relationships and communications with students, colleagues, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and the general public. This position will also participate in budget management, financial reconciliation, and team fundraising, may assist in game day management, and may coordinate summer camps and clinics, including paperwork, customer service, and financial reconciliation.
- Assists with organization and direction of all aspects of The George Washington University’s
Division 1 men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs that compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference. - Areas of responsibility may include student-athlete recruitment, individual and team coaching instruction, daily administrative processes, compliance oversight, and academic/social development, among others.
- Assists in team coaching, preparing the team for competition, and individual student-athlete development. Assists in monitoring academic, social, and personal development of men’s and women’s swimming student-athletes.
- Assists in identifying and recruiting academically and athletically elite student- athletes for the men’s and women’s swimming programs.
- Assists in creating content and maintaining a strong presence on social media. Assists in the coordination of team and individual travel for the purpose of team competition and student-athlete recruitment, including traveling with the team to away competitions.
- Assists in promoting and developing the program by creating and maintaining effective relationships with alumni, donors, and community members. Participates in events as a representative of the department and men’s and women’s swimming programs.
- Maintains knowledge and remains current regarding all appropriate NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, Department of Athletics and Recreation, and University compliance issues, policies, and procedures.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but will require significant travel for games and events. RESPONSIBILITIES
Head Coach – Swimming Program

Schedule:

Ideally, candidates should be available for practices five days or evenings per week, in addition to one to two weekends per month for meets. During the long course season, candidates will have varied minimum working hours per week.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Applicants must meet all state and USA Swimming requirements and clearances. A background in high school or college swimming, along with at least two years of coaching experience, is preferred. Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License are required.

Legacy Aquatics – Oregon City Swim Team (LA-OR) is currently looking for an experienced assistant coach to work with multiple development squads from Age Group to High School. Practices would generally be at either the Oregon City Pool or the Milwaukie-Portland Elks Lodge pool. Practices would be in the window of 3 – 7pm on weekdays with some potential weekends for Saturday AM practice or competitions.
The assistant coach would be working with the Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach to execute planned aquatic and dryland exercises. The Assistant Coach should be passionate about swimming, growth oriented, and have an athlete-centered approach to coaching.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Execute 14-20 hours per week of on-deck coaching with the possibility of more if also interested in coaching masters (5-6am).
- Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches while displaying a pleasant and professional demeanor.
- Attend scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required.
- Optional: help with maintenance, and equipment development or repairs.
The ideal candidate has:
- A passion for teaching swimming.
