The Swarthmore Swim Club (SSC) Seasharks are seeking an experienced Head Coach for the 2025 Suburban Swim League (SSL) (http://www.ssl-summer.com/) swim season. We are looking for an energetic, motivated individual to lead approximately 125 swimmers of all ability levels in our developmental and competitive summer swim league, as well as coordinate and manage our assistant and volunteer coaches. The ideal candidate has head coaching experience, strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to connect with children from grades K-12, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport of swimming. In addition, the job requires Hy-Tek Meet Manager and TeamUnify proficiency. The candidate will work closely with the SSC Board, SSC general manager and swim team parent representatives to carry out the many day-to-day responsibilities of the coaching staff.
Practices & Meets:
New swimmer evaluations are typically held at Swarthmore College Ware Pool the week before Memorial Day. Afternoon indoor practices generally begin the Tuesday after Memorial Day in the early evening. Once Wallingford-Swarthmore School District (WSSD) public schools have ended for the school year, practices are held outdoors at SSC in the afternoon and early evening Monday-Friday divided by age and ability. Varsity meets are held on Wednesday evenings and intersquad and unofficial meets, events, or clinics may take place on an occasional weekend morning in consultation with the coach. The season ends with A Champs, typically held the last Saturday in July. Practice and meet schedules are subject to change and the practice schedule can be adjusted based on the swim coach’s availability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Promote a fun, safe, and team-oriented environment
- Be a role model for the swimmers, especially in the older age groups
- Identify age- and skill-appropriate drills for each age group to include stroke, starts, turns, etc.
- Plan and run practices for each age group
- Maintain control and safety of swimmers
- Provide stroke technique instruction to beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers
- Coordinate logistics for each swim meet for swimmers and parents
- Timely communication with SSC families through TeamUnify platform.
- Generate meet lineups and day of meet materials with Hy-Tek Meet Manager.
- Review meet results (including disqualification issues) and work with swimmers to improve performance
- Maintain organization of swimmers prior to and during swim meets
- Work with the Team Parents to organize and attend themed pep rallies, as well as other various team-sponsored social activities

- Help with setup and breakdown of all practices and swim meets

Required Qualifications:
- Experience as a head coach, or extensive experience as an assistant coach
- US Swim Coach Certification or equivalent preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work directly with the Experience and Operations teams to plan and deliver the Competitive Sports programs for the Harrisburg Area YMCA with a focus on the Competitive Aquatics program.

Assistant Swimming & Diving Coach

This position offers the opportunity for a coach to immediately impact the entire aquatics program at De La Salle High School. To enhance the synergy between all aquatic sports (Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo), we are seeking an Assistant Coach who believes in the value of High School Swimming & Diving for athletes at all levels.
In addition to on-deck coaching with the Varsity and JV Swimming Teams daily during the season, the Assistant Coach will have various administrative and support responsibilities. While the season runs from early February through mid-May, there are occasional duties (attendance at departmental meetings, Open House, Freshman Welcome, etc.) throughout the offseason. The Assistant Coach will also help conduct and run strength and conditioning (weights, dryland, etc.) sessions as needed.
This position offers the opportunity to advance and to progressively take on more responsibility. As a part of the De La Salle Athletics Staff, the Assistant Coach has the opportunity to operate Camps and Clinics throughout the year.
FACILITIES
Brother Jerome West Pool is a state-of-the-art, all-deep (7′-14′), 11-lane, 25y x 25m pool. The complex is equipped with a brand new 9’x16′ HD video scoreboard, and fully automatic timing including touch pads and relay take-off sensors. Coaches have access to Power Towers, bungees, underwater videography equipment as well as other training aids and equipment.
The Ladouceur Athletic Performance Center is a new, state-of-the-art Strength & Conditioning facility and The Sand Lot is an additional “open-air” weight room.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high level of playing and/or coaching experience is desired.
All coaches are required to get fingerprint clearance from the DOJ and FBI, as well as TB clearance, BEFORE they start coaching. They have 30 days to complete all required certifications, including, but not limited to, CPR/First Aid certification, CIF – Fundamentals of Coaching Certification, Concussion Training, Workplace Violence Prevention Training, and Anti-Harassment Training.

The part-time, regular Assistant Coach, Men’s and Women’s Swimming is responsible for assisting in the coaching and teaching of students, game and practice preparation and execution, compliance with NCAA and conference rules/regulations, assisting with appropriate recruitment of scholar-athletes, and assisting with general team administrative work. Essential Job Duties
- Demonstrate a high level of teaching and coaching competency in sport skill instruction, sport strategy, tactics and rules, physical training and fitness, and student motivation in practice execution. Will work with the head coach but will be able to run practice sessions independently as needed and scheduled.
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic development, and athletic welfare of student-athletes; collaborate with the head coach and certified athletic trainers to support students. Student health and safety are our highest priorities.
