Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club is seeking our new National team coach
SMAC is a silver Medal club coming off a successful season highlighted by 3 trials qualifiers and a top 5 finish at Futures. The group is returning a dozen Junior National qualifiers including two trials swimmers. Our goal is to become a Gold medal club. Preparation for 2028 trials begins now.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of high-level achievement progressing from Futures to National and trials level completion.
- Outstanding knowledge of age-appropriate training and technique for various training styles.
- Exemplary communication skills with athletes, parents, coaching staff and facilities.
- Ability to design and implement a dryland program that complements in water training.
- Five years of head or National level coaching experience.
Core objectives & responsibilities
- Establish a culture where the team, the process of learning, and personal improvement though individual responsibility is valued.
- Educate swimmers and families about the roles and value of technical excellence, commitment, and competition in high-level performance.
- Collaborate with the head coach to define seasonal goals and objectives.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all facilities SMAC utilizes.
- Lead and conduct all in water and dryland sessions.
- Ensure the National group is a role model for the rest of the Club and swim community
- Assist in organizing, executing, and conducting SMAC hosted events, including swim meets and clinics.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Community
- Conduct periodic parent/team meetings to inform parent community of team issues and events.
- Maintain current coaching certification requirements according to USA Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming
- Adhere to all applicable USA Swimming and PNS rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Tsunami Swimming, located in Fredericksburg, VA, is a non-profit organization formed in 2001 as the area’s first-ever comprehensive swimming program offering need-based scholarships with programs for the entire family. Programs include: USA Swimming competitive team, Learn to Swim (ages 4 to adult), Swim and Stay Fit (stroke instruction and improvement), Adult Masters, High School Warm-Up, and RSL Stroke Clinic. Tsunami Swimming’s mission is to create a lifelong love of swimming in a safe, positive, encouraging environment and help swimmers set goals so that regardless of ability levels, they can reach their highest potential.
Our ideal candidate is energetic, knowledgeable, supportive, and enthusiastic about the sport. The Tsunami Swimming program is comprised of approximately 70 team swimmers, 10 staff (coaches and instructors), and 200 program participants. It is expected that the head coach works with swimmers at all levels on the competitive team, from novice to senior swimmers, and program participants. The ideal candidate will be equally interested in swimmers’ character growth and development, as well as the growth of the team. The head coach is required to be on deck during practice times (morning and evenings, as well as Sundays) averaging 2.5 – 5 hours per day, 6 days a week and present at swim meets (hours vary based on the meet).
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Team and program instruction/development:
- Recruit and retain swimmers at all levels according to USA Swimming guidelines and best practices
- Develop swimmers at all levels according to USA Swimming guidelines and best practices, including providing goal setting sessions, resources for nutrition, and appropriate dry land programs
- Create and conduct workouts for swimmers on the competitive team
- Manage and develop coaching staff/instructors to ensure optimal personal development of both coaches/instructors and swimmers
- Create workouts for the Masters program and Swim & Stay Fit program as needed
- Supervise coaches/instructors in the Learn to Swim, Swim & Stay Fit, HS Warm-Up, and RSL Stroke Clinic programs
- Coach participants of Learn to Swim and Swim & Stay Fit program as needed
- Participate in team events such as parent meetings and social gatherings
Administrative tasks:
- Manage marketing and communication of Tsunami team programs with swimmers, parents, and other interested parties
- Establish and maintain communication with swimmers and parents (within the guidelines of USA Swimming and SafeSport)
- Create the team practice schedule and meet schedule with the advice and assistance of board members and staff; The practice schedule is set during the previous season and is dependent upon pool availability. The meet schedule is more flexible, but should include 1 – 3 meets per month and include local, regional, VSI, and other USA Swimming sanctioned swim competitions.
- Assist club administrators, team accountant, and/or volunteers with regards to financial aspects of the program, including annual budget and reporting, accounting, fundraising, payroll, and maintaining financial records
- Attend board meetings and provide reports to the Board on team numbers, team performance, staffing, and recruitment
- Serve as a liaison with the practice facility management to ensure that the pool quality is within USA Swimming standards and the environment is safe and clean
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience coaching swimmers of all ages (5 years old through high school), a minimum of 5 years of USA Swimming head coach experience preferred
- Experience working with all levels of swimmer abilities and ages
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills; an outgoing personality is a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with parents to encourage the swimmer’s development
- Experience with Team Manager, Hy-Tek, Team Unify, and/or a willingness to learn the adopted team software platform
- Availability to work scheduled practice times (set prior to the start of the short course season)
- Completion of USA Swimming Coaching Certifications and be in good standing with USA Swimming and VA Swimming, or be able to attain certifications prior to start of employment

Salary, Benefits, and Compensation:
- Salary range of $40,000 – $50,000, commensurate with experience

Swim Torrance is a well-established non-profit 501(c)(3), competitive swim club dedicated to fostering the development of swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Our all year-round program emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and personal growth, ensuring each athlete reaches their full potential both in and out of the pool. The swim team averages 230 swimmers strong, that ranges from beginner level age groups up to national level qualifiers. Swim Torrance is made up of 12 swim groups, auxiliary programs including a Junior Guard Prep program, Splash Club Endurance program, and Summer lessons program for novice swimmers. We host three to four swim meets each year across SCY and LCM seasons. Our swimmers compete and perform at regional and national meets in California and out of state Swim Meets.

What will you be doing?
Management and Administration
- Develop organizational goals, strategic planning and business growth that is consistent with the mission and vision of Swim Torrance
- Develop, organize and execute programs, services, and activities to ensure the program’s objectives are met including: practice and meet schedules, pool space and training locations, and all aspects of Team Hosted Swim Meets
- Oversight of Coach in charge of Auxiliary programs including try-outs
- Ensure management and administrative requirements are planned and provided in a timely manner for Board review (as needed) and for proactive Team membership notifications.
- Ensure compliance with USA Swimming and Safe Sport
- Research and curate training materials and/or opportunities for coaching staff on a quarterly basis.
Fiscal Responsibility
- In partnership with Board President and Treasurer, manage and track the annual budget on a monthly basis; monitor and report reimbursable expenses to the Board Treasurer in a timely manner.
- Plan and prepare for future growth and fundraising activities
- Plan and budget for all travel
- Coach management and supervision including hiring of all coaches, compliance to hiring and termination procedures and staff development
Board Relations
- Assist VP/Secretary in planning the agenda and materials for the monthly board meetings
- Regular updates to the Board on the status of key initiatives and developments
- Present a coach report at each monthly board meeting
Public Relations and Social Strategy
- Serve as chief liaison with the PAC Committee, SCS and USA swimming community, attend monthly Pacific Committee meetings with 2 coaches and 1-3 athlete members

Charger Aquatics is seeking an experienced, dynamic and positive individual for the position of Associate Head Coach. This position is responsible for serving as Lead Coach for the Senior Regional and Age Group Regional practice groups, as well as performing administrative duties. The Associate Head Coach will also serve as the Meet Director/Coordinator for all CAQ-hosted Events, as well as Coordinator for the CAQ Strength & Conditioning Program.
