About FAST: FAST is a year-round competitive swimming program that helps swimmers grow at the local, state, and national levels through 250 plus Age-Group and over 200 Masters swimmers. We focus on physical, social, character and emotional development, teaching values like goal setting, discipline, and fitness that align with our Mission and Vision Statements. FAST is a non-profit organization affiliated with USA Swimming and Colorado Swimming.
Position Overview: The Head Swim Coach and CEO, will lead both the team’s athletic and business aspects, developing training programs, managing staff, and ensuring the team’s financial and operational success while fostering a positive environment. As a key member of the senior management team reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this position provides supervision to the Head Age Group Coach, as well as the Lead Group Coaches and assistant coaches. The role also plays a crucial role in cultivating positive working relationships with swimmers, fellow coaches, board members, parents, and community, while encouraging creativity and input from others. Strong oral, interpersonal, public speaking and written communication skills are critical for ongoing communications with the entire FAST community and the City of Fort Collins.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of Head Coach or Head Age Group coaching experience with a focus on technique, race strategy, dryland/strength conditioning and age-appropriate training for both developmental and elite swimmers with a program over 150 swimmers
- USA Swimming Head Coach certifications and SafeSport are in good standing
- Associate’s degree or higher required
- Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
- ASCA Level 3+ preferred
- GAIN Swimming Network Trained preferred
Skills and Expectations
- Managing and developing a year-long swim training program that includes proper stroke techniques, strength conditioning, race preparedness, and goal setting that is age, and developmentally appropriate, which allows swimmers of different abilities to reach their highest potential while considering all learning styles.
- Cultivate a fun, positive, interactive, and competitive environment that motivates swimmers to exceed their goals, while also utilizing strong analytical skills to assess performance and develop tailored training plans, including competitive and practice sessions, to monitor individual progress.
- Ability to work with and oversee and mentor other coaches with Age Group Swimmers and Coaches and Masters Coach.
- Coordinate with Head Age Group Coach on the team’s competition schedule and annually evaluate age-group coaches to support their development.
- Knowledge of using Team Unify, HY-TEK, Colorado Timing System, and OME.
- Attend monthly Board meetings, weekly management and coaches’ meetings, and swim meets. Need to be proficient in managing and projecting the annual budget with the Board President, Treasurer, Business Manager, and Bookkeeper.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local high school programs and the City of Fort Collins Parks & Recreation Leadership.
- Develops and directs strategic and operational objectives to grow FAST by increasing both team size and revenue.
Salary Info:
The Head Coach/CEO is a full-time, salaried position with benefits with the potential of bonuses. Salary is based on experience and skills. Salary range: $75,000 – $90,000. Work Schedule includes early morning, nights, Saturday morning practices. Will also include occasional full weekend’s events/meets. Some travel will occur.
