Israel Moves To Top Of Medal Table Through Night 3, Estonia Picks Up First European Title Ever

2024 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Israel has now moved to the top of the medal table through three nights of competition in Belgrade, Serbia at the 2024 European Championships. Israel has three gold medals to lead the way while Hungary sits in 2nd with two gold medals and 14 medals total. Israel won the women’s 4×200 free relay on night 1, the 4×100 mixed medley relay last night, and tonight picked up their first individual gold as Anastasia Gorbenko won the women’s 400 IM.

After leading the medal table through nights one and two, Greece sits at number three now. They picked up two silver medals and one bronze medal tonight.

Numerous countries got on the medal table for the first time tonight. The most notable addition was Estonia as Eneli Jefimova swam to the country’s first ever European Title as she won the women’s 100 breaststroke. Ukraine also had a big night, winning two gold medals as Oleksandr Zheltiakov won the 200 backstroke in a new national record while Mykhailo Romanchuk won the men’s 800 freestyle.

After touching first last night in the mixed medley relay before being disqualified, Poland earned their first medal tonight as the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay won bronze.
