Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Versatile swimmer Dillon Spooner has committed to swim at St. Bonaventure University in New York for his collegiate career. Spooner hails from Florida, where he swims for Indian River Aquatics and competes for Lincoln Park Academy. He will join the Bonnies in the fall of 2026.
I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to St. Bonaventure where I will continue my academic and swimming career. I want to thank my parents, coaches, family, and teammates for their guidance in this process. All aspects of the school were what made me realize that I look forward to being part of the BONNIE family! GO BONNIES!!
At the FHSAA Class 1A State Championships last November, Spooner posted a best time of 4:39.64 in the 500 freestyle, which placed him 12th. He also added an 18th place performance in the 200 IM (1:58.25). He ended his short course at the Area 6 Spring Championships earlier this month, where he clocked a lifetime best of 1:46.71 in the 200 freestyle.
The 18-year-old’s primary event is arguably the 400 IM, where his best time of 4:03.20 would’ve ranked him 4th on St. Bonaventure‘s roster this past season. Senior Kevyn Collazo Torres was St. Bonaventure‘s fastest swimmer in the event with this year with his time of 3:55.98, which he clocked en route to 9th at the Atlantic 10 Championships in February. Spooner’s lifetime best would have placed 14th in that same race, meaning he already has scoring potential in an event before arriving on campus.

Spooner was part of a large signing class for the St. Bonaventure men. He joined Ben Witmer, Corey Beard, Asher Cooper, Duncan McClaren, and Sam Dellasega in committing to the university’s class of 2030.
