Gift Ideas for Swimmers, SwimSpray’s Cyber Monday Experience

From Dr. Andrew Chadeayne, Inventor of SwimSpay:

Swimmer GiftGift for a Swimmer? “Gift idea for a swimmer These are the sorts of questions that many shoppers had this past “Cyber Monday,” November 26th, 2012.

Like many small businesses, SwimSpray relies on the internet to direct customers to our site.  But, we have found that advertising on the internet can be prohibitively expensive for our start-up company.  Effective advertising can cost thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars.  And, we’d rather spend that money attending events and handing out samples.  This year, we addressed our “advertising” needs by asking the swimming family for help spreading our offerings via social media.

I sent the following note to a handful of our swimmer friends:

“SwimSpray does not have a massive war chest for traditional marketing this year, so we are hoping that our friends and supports can help us spread the word about our offerings.  If you have a moment, I would really appreciate your sharing our most recent post with your online friends. . . . Obviously no hard feelings if you don’t want to share.  In any event, I hope that you’ll recommend SwimSpray to your swimmer friends so that they can be chlorine-free after swimming in the new year.”

The results?  About 40 people shared our post about SwimSpray as a holiday gift for swimmers.  And, within 24 hours, our webpage had more traffic than it ever had before!

This really made my day — not only because we got the word out to the masses on a critical shopping day — but more because it felt good to have the backing of so many good friends for the swimming community.  We pride ourselves on being “By Swimmers for Swimmers,” so it’s nice to feel the swimmer love.

About SwimSpray:How to Use No web addressSwimSpray was invented by Dr. Andrew Chadeayne, a former Princeton University swimmer and chemistry Ph.D. from Cornell University. Tired of smelling like chlorine after his swimming workouts, Andrew set out remove chlorine from hair and skin ( SwimSpray works where so many other chlorine-removal products (e.g., swimmers’ shampoos) have failed previously because SwimSpray’s all-natural vitamin C based formula breaks this bond, neutralizing the chlorine, and allowing it to be washed away with your favorite soap or shampoo. Follow him on Twitter @swimspray and fan him Facebook.

SwimSpray is a SwimSwam ad partner.
