Georgia Tech has done a good job of keeping local talent in-state this year, and their latest success comes by way of a verbal commitment from sprinter Jonathan Vater of Dynamo Swim Club. Vater is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Alpharetta High School. He was runner-up in the 50 free (21.09) at the 2016 GHSA 6A State Swimming & Diving Meet as a junior; he also placed fourth in the 100 free (46.00).
At 2015 Speedo Winter Juniors East, Vater swam the anchor leg (45.51) for the Dynamo 400 medley relay that earned the bronze medal and set a Georgia State record. At the Atlanta Futures meet, he finaled in the 50/100 freestyles and anchored Dynamo’s 400 medley relay (51.45). His best events are:

Vater will join Dynamo teammates Jonathan Yang and Julia Shuford, who have also committed to Georgia Tech. Other known members of the Yellow Jackets’ class of 2021 are Corben Miles and Franco Reyes.
