Former NC State Swimmer Joe Rhyne Awarded The Ronnie Shavlik Award Of Merit

Former NC State swimmer Joe Rhyne received the Ronnie Shavlik Award of Merit this Friday for his continued contributions in giving back to the program in the form of donations.

The Ronnie Shavlik award is presented to a former student-athlete or member of the athletic staff who displays leadership, service, and support for NC Athletics. Rhyne, now an investment banker, contributed to the creation of a new scoreboard and lobby renovation at the Willis R. Kasey Aquatic Center, showing his utmost support for the NC State Wolfpack.

Rhyne has been a Wolfpack member for a whopping 32 years now, starting his career with NC State in 1977. While there Rhyne captured a 200 butterfly title at the 1978 ACC Championships, and was part of four ACC Championship winning Wolfpack teams.

The award was presented to Rhyne at the Evening of Stars ceremony which was hosted by the Wolfpack club.
