The Florida State swimming and diving teams will compete against each other in the Garnet vs. Gold meet at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Saturday at 10 a.m.

“We’re on the doorstep of another season,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We made drastic improvements last year and we’re planning on continuing that trend this year. Saturday is going to be a great meet. We have 84 student-athletes anxious to compete and it should be a fun and competitive atmosphere.”

Both teams will compete in the regular 16 event format, including the 200 medley and 200 free relays, 1000 free, 50 free, 200 IM, 100’s and 200’s of each stroke in addition to 1-meter and 3-meter diving.

“The traditional meet format will give us the best look at what we have,” Studd said. “We have a lot of newcomers representing all classes and they want to come in and make an impact on our program. They’ve all been adjusting well and performing very well in practice and we can’t wait to see them compete.”

The Seminoles return 14 student-athletes that represented FSU at both the 2017 men’s and women’s NCAA Championships and will be led by senior captains Natalie Pierce, Blaire Mulka, Joe Plechy and Chad Mylin.

The official start to the 2017-18 season will begin Sept. 22-24 at the All-Florida Invite in Gainesville, Fla.
