The women of Florida State and Florida International traveled to Ft Pierce yesterday to face Indian River in a unique meet SCY with an alternate event list. The Seminoles had three double event winners and one event sweep on their way to handling both opponents. Full results can be seen at this link.

Florida State ran away with scoring on the back of three athletes who each doubled. Megan Brown took the overall win for both the 150 yard butterfly (1:28.98) and 150 backstroke (1:29.47, ) holding back second place finishes from FIU’s Jenny Deist (1:31.27) in the fly and Jessica Piper (1:31.50) in the backstroke.
Seminole teammate Summer Finke took the win for both distance events, touching at 3:55.18 for the 400 free and 7:59.63 for the 800. FSU’s other double winner was Alexi Smith who took the 25 free in 10.93 and 75 free in 37.16. Smith led a 1-3 sweep of the 75, followed by Sami Pochowski at 37.94 and Leila Johnston at 38.39. Johnston was also an individual event winner for the 75 fly, finishing in 40.66. FSU’s other individual event winners were Bianca Spinazzola for the 75 back (41.22) and Lydia Ware for the 100 IM (58.35.)
Indian River also had a double winner, with Christina Loh taking both breaststroke events. She won the 150 yard breaststroke by nearly two seconds at 1:40.49, but her 45.89 for the 75 breast barely held off FSU’s Sami Pochowski at 45.95. IRCC also took the win for the 200 freestyle relay, with the team of Tayla Lovemore, Osianna McReed, Yasmine Ware and Leah Sims combining for 1:35.69, just .30 ahead of the Seminoles’ top squad.12-15-15 FIUvsFSUvsIRCC
Florida International’s Kyna Pereira took the overall win for the 150 freestyle in 1:21.37. She also managed second place for the 800 free (8:04.34) and third for the 400 (3:56.20.) Panther teammate Becca Quesnel earned the double win for diving, scoring 281.70 on the 1-meter board and 294.30 for 3-meter.
What are you talking about? Half of FSU freshman girls are from FL. And if you mean for next year, there’s many more months for kids to commit to swim. Additionally, there are a ton of great DI and DII swim programs in FL. Check them out! Let your child find their best fit.
I am talking about the fact that FSU has some of the best athletic facilities in the country and every sport here with the exception of the swim program attracts top to athletes from the state of Florida. Please name one top 3 Florida swimmers that coach Bradley has signed or even a top 50 swimmer from anywhere in the country. With the facilities here there is no excuse for this team not being competitive in the ACC and the NCAA. This great university deserves more than the mediocrity that this program has produced the last 3 years. Almost every other team in the ACC has out recruited coach Bradley since he has arrived. I actually think the facilities are a major reason few FL kids are interested in swimming at FSU. Yes, they’re nice, but they are off campus and outside. Tallahassee average Jan temp is 51. Not appealing for FL kids. UWF and UF also have beautiful facilities- on campus and indoors. And FGCU, FAU, FIU, and U Miami also have beautiful facilities -on campus and outside, where the average Jan. temp. Is 71.
Swim Swam can you ask Frank Bradly why he couldn’t or wouldn’t sign any swimmers from the state of Florida this year
