Florida HS 4A State Champ Grace Gavin Makes Verbal Pledge to Cincinnati

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Grace Gavin from St. Johns, Florida has announced her verbal commitment to swim at the University of Cincinnati beginning in the fall of 2022.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Cincinnati! Forever grateful to my family, friends, Coach John from Loggerheads, and Ms. Lori from ACC recruits for their support and mentorship. Can’t wait for this next chapter! Go Bearcats!!🖤❤️🐾”

Gavin swims for Creekside High School, where she is a junior, and the club team Loggerhead Aquatics. She contributed to Creekside’s Florida High School 4A State Championship title in November with individual top-8 finishes in the 100 back (4th, 56.86) and 200 IM (6th, 2:06.98) and legs on the winning 200 medley relay (26.40 backstroke leadoff) and 4th-place 200 free relay (24.09). Her 50 back and 200 IM times were personal bests. The following week, she added a PB in the 100 free at the EAJ Fall Harvest Invite.

Recently, she updated her times in the 200 free and 200 back at Florida Swimming’s Spring Senior Championships-North. She came in 4th in the 100 back and 200 back and 7th in the 400 IM. A week later she was back in action at NCSA Spring Championship competing in the 50/100/200 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 back – 26.40
  • 100 back – 56.23
  • 200 back – 2:03.31
  • 50 free – 24.42
  • 100 free – 54.63
  • 200 free – 1:56.98
  • 100 fly – 57.12
  • 200 fly – 2:08.45

Gavin will suit up for Cincinnati in the fall of 2022 with fellow verbal commit Abi Carroll. The Bearcats finished 3rd at the 2021 AAC Championships, just 21 points behind SMU for second place. Gavin’s best times would have scored in the B finals of the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly, and 200 fly. She will join a training group led by sophomore Jaclyn Klimczak who placed 8th in the 100 back and 10th in the 200 back at the conference meet. Katherine Connolly, also a sophomore, was the top Bearcat performer in the 100 fly (5th, 54.94) and 200 fly (3rd, 2:00.04).
