Conor Dwyer is using the North Baltimore Christmas swim meet to tune up some sprints and off-strokes, and based on prelims of day 1, it’s working. the 24-year-old swam the 100 breast and 100 fly this morning, taking top seeds in both. Dwyer was 53.43 in the 100 breast and went 47.93 in the 100 fly later in the session to just sneak in ahead of fellow pro Tom Luchsinger heading into finals.

Luchsinger was 48.56 in the fly and also swam the 200 IM, going 1:51.34 in a race where it looks like he eased off the accelerator at about 100 yards.

French superstar Yannick Agnel in the meanwhile is trying out some longer races in short-course yards, a new discipline for him. He swam his native 200 free (taking the top seed in a clearly-cruised 1:36.86) but is also slated for the 1000 free later today, where he’ll compete with Matt McLean.

Junior National teamer Cierra Runge was the easy 1-seed in the women’s 200 IM, going 1:59.49. She’s also entered in the 1000, where she’ll match up with NBAC distance specialist Gillian Ryan.

I’ve heard that NBAC pros are targeting the US Open record in the 800 Free relay. 6:10.16 is the current record I believe.
