Dryland: Turkish Getups

by Garrett McCaffrey 2

September 16th, 2015 Club, Coach's Log, Training, Video

Our goals with dryland are pretty simple: teach swimmers how to move the body with proper posture and breath. Larry Arnold is the master at leading this kind of strength session.

This three and half minute clip shows Larry taking Phoenix Swim Club’s Sr I group through an exercise known at the Turkish Getup. He used it as a warmup but as you can see from the video the kids are working core strength, body control and, for the most part, listening skills.
