Delaware emerged victorious in their tri-meet with Saint Francis and Georgetown. The women topped Georgetown 190-109 and Saint Francis 219-73. The Delaware men defeated Georgetown 180-118. Among the highlights of the meet was Allex Hillsley‘s backstroke sweep. He clocked a 52.89 in the 100 and a 1:53.62 in the 200. Click here for Results.
Saint Francis:
NEWARK, Del. – The Saint Francis swimming team, led by head coach Rory Coleman, completed its first meet of the 2015-16 season on Saturday. The Red Flash fell 219-73 against Delaware and 209-82 vs. Georgetown.
One of the top Red Flash performers of the day was Emma Karell(Norrtlje, Sweden/Tby Swim Club). The sophomore placed second in the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:12.29. Later in the meet, Karell finished third in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a pace of 2:29.04.
Fellow sophomore Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) earned a third place finish in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:15.82. Lafferty also recorded a fifth place finish in the 1000-yard Freestyle, completing the event in 11:00.79.
In the 100-yard Breaststroke, senior Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) placed fourth with a time of 1:08.41. FreshmanMarisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) finished fourth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.65.
Junior Jessica Reilly earned a pair of Top 5 finishes. She completed the 50-yard Freestyle in 25.29 to finish 4th. In the 100-yard Freestyle, Reilly placed fifth with a pace of 55.28.
In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, Saint Francis’ team of Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers placed second, finishing the race in 3:41.38. SFU’s Amanda Crnic (Conway, Ark./Conway), Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic) and Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) combined for a fourth place finish with a time of 3:49.79.
In the 200-yard Medley Relay, Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers teamed up for a fourth place finish with a pace of 1:50.94.
The Red Flash are next in action when it hosts Saint Francis Brooklyn at Stokes Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

Delaware:
NEWARK, Del. — The University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened up their 2015-16 seasons in successful fashion on Saturday afternoon with victories over Georgetown and Saint Francis at Rawstrom Natatorium.
The Blue Hen women posted a 190-109 victory over Georgetown and a 219-73 triumph over Saint Francis, while the UD men recorded a 180-118 win over the Hoyas.
Senior Dominique Montoya paced the Delaware women’s team with victories in the 200 freestyle (1:54.58), 100 freestyle (52.96) and 500 freestyle (5:10.93), while Alyssa Sanders won her races in the 100 backstroke (58.07) and 200 backstroke (2:06.16). Kristina Congdon was the other multiple event winner for the Blue Hens, as she captured the 1-meter diving with a 294.30 score and the 3-meter diving with a 301.35 total.
Annie Nunes won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.15 for UD, while Mina Feyrer captured the 200 butterfly in 2:09.14 and Morgan Whyte took the 50 freestyle in 23.92. Madeline Maher won the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.18, while the UD 200 medley relay team of Sanders, Nunes, Feyrer and Whyte took its event in 1:47.35.
Blue Hen junior Alex Hillsley won the 100 backstroke (52.89), 200 backstroke (1:53.62) and 200 IM (1:54.88) to lead the UD men’s squad, while Patrick Savidge captured the 200 freestyle (1:43.68) and 200 breaststroke (2:10.50).
Thomas Scott won the 200 butterfly in 1:56.85, while Nicholas Badsky captured the 50 freestyle in 21.71 and Luke Winkler took the 1-meter diving event with a 290.55 score. Additionally the UD 200 medley relay team of Hillsley, Peter DeLuce, Tomås Elder and Badsky won its race in 1:36.58, while the 400 free relay team of Badsky, Kyle Weston, Andrew Woerthand Elder captured its event in 3:12.47.
Both UD teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host George Mason at 1 p.m. at Rawstrom Natatorium.

Georgetown:
NEWARK, Del. – The Georgetown University swimming & diving team opened its dual meet schedule on Saturday afternoon, as the women defeated Saint Francis (Pa.), 209-82, and fell to Delaware, 190-109, while the men fell to the Blue Hens, 180-118 at Rawstrom Natatorium.
Just a day after opening the season at the Potomac Relays, the Hoyas got out to a quick start, as the men’s 200-yard medley relay quartet of senior Cal Rohde (Greenwich, Conn./Peddie School), freshman Arthur Wang (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), junior Martin Vanin (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivar) and freshman Seth Maslowski (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) took second place with a time of 1:36.98.
Sophomore Madeleine Quinn (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) followed directly after, winning the women’s 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:34.13. Later in the meet Quinn finished second in the women’s 200 yard individual medley, as GU swept the top three spots. Freshman Maddy Loniewski (Redford, Mich./Mercy) won the race in 2:13.29, while sophomore Rachel Armstrong (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) finished third.
Senior Austin Evenson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest School) and sophomore Chase Ladman (San Marcos, Calif.) finished second and third, respectively in the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle. Evenson finished with a time of 9:58.02.
Sophomore Bailey Page (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) earned a third place finish in the women’s 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.62, before freshman Jacob Kohlhoff (Tega Clay, N.C./Fort Mill) took second place with a time of 1:44.21 and sophomore Daniel Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) took third in 1:44.93 in the men’s 200-yard freestyle. Kohlhoff also finished second in the men’s 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:47.35.
Wang earned a victory in the men’s 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:01.25 in the meet’s 10th event. Later in the meet he finished third in the men’s 200-yard breaststroke, just behind teammate sophomore Matthew Glockenmeier (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), who finished in 2:12.16.
Freshman Laine Morgan (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) had a strong first collegiate dual meet, earning a second-place finish in the women’s 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.88. She also earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.10, before winning the 100-yard butterfly in 59.00 in the meet’s 25th event. Morgan also led off GU’s winning 400 yard freestyle relay team that included sophomore Christine Ryan (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier), Page and senior Erica Fabbri (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), as they finished in 3:36.07.
Vanin and junior David Chung (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) took the top two spots in the men’s 100-yard butterfly, as Vanin finished in 51.74, while Chung was less than one-tenth of a second behind in 51.80.
Junior diver Jared Cooper-Vespa (Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School ) won the three-meter diving competition scoring 315.97 points, after taking a second-place finish in the one- meter diving competition.
The Hoyas return to action on Friday when they travel to Princeton University take on the Tigers in a meet scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
