Dalesandro, Davis named Big Ten Female Co-Swimmers of the Week

Indiana’s Gia Dalesandro and Purdue’s Allie Davis share this week’s Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors. D’Alesandro brought home triple wins in Indiana’s dual meet with Auburn, taking the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.89), 100-yard butterfly (53.44) and 200-yard individual medley (2:01.68). Davis won the 500 (4:47.31) and 1,000 (9:51.66) against Iowa.

Co-Swimmers of the Week
Gia Dalesandro, Indiana
Jr. – Naperville, Ill. – Neuqua Valley
• Claimed a trio of first-place touches in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.89), 100-yard butterfly (53.44) and 200-yard individual medley (2:01.68) against No. 10 Auburn
• Times in both butterfly events are NCAA provisional qualifying marks, and rank No. 5 in the nation
• The 2014-15 Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award
• Last Indiana Swimmer of the Week: Brooklynn Snodgrass (Feb. 3, 2015)

Allie Davis, Purdue
Sr. – Santa Rosa, Calif. – Windsor
• Recorded three first-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.31), 1,000-yard freestyle (9:51.66) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:26.15) against Iowa
• Time in the 500-yard freestyle is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and ranks No. 5 in the nation
• Time in the 1,000-yard freestyle ranks 10th in the country
• The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award
• Last Purdue Swimmer of the Week: Julianne Heyde (Feb. 17, 2015)

Diver of the Week
Addison Walkowiak, Rutgers
So. – Ballston Spa, N.Y. – Ballston Spa
• Swept the springboard diving events against Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova
• Scored 303.25 points in the one-meter event and 348.55 points in the three-meter competition, recording NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both events
• Produced the program record in the three-meter event
• Earns her first career Diver of the Week honor
• Becomes the first Big Ten Diver of the Week for Rutgers

Freshman of the Week
Lilly King, Indiana
Fr. – Evansville, Ind. – F.J. Reitz
• Recorded a pair of first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.74) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.64), and added a fourth-place touch in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.67) against Auburn
• Collected season-best times in all three events
• Times in the breaststroke events are NCAA provisional qualifying marks
• Collects her first Freshman of the Week award
• Last Indiana Freshman of the Week: Miranda Tucker (Oct. 21, 2015)
