We will update with a team photo as soon as one is available.
The meet wasn’t a perfect one for the Texas Longhorns, and the scoring total was short of being completely maxed out, but the Longhorns were chasing titles and records, and in that quest only one team ever has been more successful.
At the meet’s conclusion, the Texas men walked away with 9 event titles out of 21 events, scoring 541.5 points total. The only team in history with more event titles were the 2001 Longhorns: a team that included Nate Dusing, Brendan Hansen Ian Crocker, Jamie Rauch, Scott Goldblatt, and elite diver Troy Dumais, among others.
The record-run puts them one behind USC with 121 event championships for the fourth-most in NCAA history; as well as with the Michigan Wolverines for the most official NCAA titles in NCAA history. All 12 of those titles have been won under Eddie Reese, which puts him one behind Richard Quick for the most in history by a single head coach across genders, and the most ever in men’s swimming history.
The runners-up from Cal have now placed in the top two at NCAAs each of the last 7 years.

Congrats to Texas, its swimmers and coaches, on a well-deserved win.
Dominant team right now.
Are you freakin’ nuts? It’s not the fault of the rest of the roster that NCAA limits things to 18. They are all champs!!!! There are others on the team that could not go that were either there last year, qualified but could not swim because of NCAA limits, did not get to go for relays as some other team brought (even thought they did not have cuts), etc. No other team in the country can even come close to claiming that.
If Clark Smith was on top of his game, Texas would’ve scored nearly 600 points. Crazy!
Anyone break this down by who scored how many points? I’m curious how those who do not score points refer to the win – do they say the are national champions, or do they say they swam with the national champions?
Dude, even the manager is a national champ. If they were there along the way, they’re national champs. That’s how I’d see it

Do those in the college world series or professional world series who are in the dugout but on the team, or those who do not get a hit, hit a home run, or have an RBI Champions? Are players in the Super Bowl or college championship who don’t score a TD or field goal, or those that stay on the sidelines that don’t get in the game champions? Seems like pretty poor logic in the question you asked?
a lot of credit should also go to Kris Kublik, that guy is Eddies eyes and ears and he always there behind the swimmers blocks after each race, he deserves a lot more respect than he does, dont think Eddie would be where he is without the help of Kublik
Eddie would be the first person to admit that–followed closely by every past and present swimmer from the program. I do not believe Kris feels under appreciated–typically folks don’t stick around the same job for as long as he has if they do. The Texas team and community know how invaluable Kris is. He doesn’t need blogs or additional praise to validate his impact. He’s busy changing lives and developing men of character that happen to be really freaking fast to boot.
