Women’s Meet
Collegiate ended the three-day meet with a final score of 358 points, handily beating out second place St. Catherine’s with 222.
The Cougars won two of the three relays contested, starting off with a new state record in the 200 medley relay. Collegiate also took the 400 free relay by three seconds, touching in 3:27.31.
DeGuenther was one of three individual double-winners for the meet. The junior raced to #1 in both the 200 free (1:48.28) and 100 free (51.32).

The next day, she returned with a 1:02.03 100 breaststroke victory, winning by four seconds. Both swims were lifetime bests for the Naval Academy commit as well as repeat wins from last year.

Men’s Meet
St. Christopher’s of the Richmond area claimed the VISAA men’s title again, scoring 299.5 points.
Like the women’s meet, three men pulled off double wins: StoneBridge’s Gabe Nunziata, Will Browne of St. Annes – Belfield, and Will Charlton from the Covenant School.
Nunziata erased nearly a second off Stuart Ferugson’s 100 breast VISAA record that had stood since 2009, lowering it from 54.17 to 53.23. It’s about a half second off the senior and Tennessee commit’s lifetime 52.83 best from the ISCA Classic in January. Nunziata also nearly took down the 200 IM state record, winning in 1:47.24. The record stands at 1:47.13.
In the freestyle sprints, senior Will Browne was a dominant force. Browne took the 50 free in 20.77 on the first day before claiming the 100 in 44.43. The Harvard commit was off his lifetime bests of 19.95/43.73.
The distance freestyle races, meanwhile, went to Will Charlton. Charlton kicked it off with a 1:38.79 200 free lifetime best in the 200 and followed it up with 4:29.26 in the 500.
