HAMILTON – MG King and Natalie Hofer contributed to six of the team’s eight victories in helping lead Colgate women’s swimming and diving to a 155-144 win over St. Bonaventure in dual action Saturday afternoon inside Lineberry Natatorium.
Prior to the meet, the Colgate men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs honored their 19 seniors celebrating their final regular season meet in Hamilton.
COACH PRETRE’S COMMENTS
“Total team effort today. That was a very good St Bonaventure team that we raced. It was one of those meets where every point mattered and we knew it was going to come down to the last relay to win the meet. Thankfully the total effort that the team achieved put us in there and our sprinters closed it out for the victory. I’m proud of our seniors with the men and women. They have no doubt left this team in a much better place when they found it.”
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate won eight events in total and racked up 25 top-three finishes with eight second-place tallies and nine bronze finishes. King won three individual events, followed by two from Hofer, and they were both in Colgate’s first-place 400 Medley Relay quartet that took the top spot.
The 400 Medley Relay team with King, Hofer, Audrey Collins, and Brooke Garretson claimed gold with a time of 3:52.42, more than a full second faster than St. Bonaventure’s closest quartet.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MIKE SMIECHOWSKI
“The divers did great. It is the first time in a very long time we have qualified a diver for the women to zones, so it is a big day. Sanayia Joefield also had arguably her best meet of the year and scored a lot of points for the team.”
“It was a tough loss for the women. A huge credit to the Colgate women’s team; they really swam tough and showed they wanted to win and came to race. We have about 20 percent of our women’s roster out with injuries or a stomach bug going around. We are looking forward to the four weeks before Atlantic 10 Conference Championships to get healthy.”
