Carol Capitani on UT-UVA Dual Energy: “I wish every meet were like that”

TEXAS VS. VIRGINIA

Texas women’s head coach Carol Capitani was hesitant to buy-in to the idea of a combined dual meet with an unusual event lineup, but after the meet she was all-in for the format. Captani was impressed with the energy and thinks more meets should be like this, not only to have fun in the sport with her athletes but to help grow it to a broader fan base.

Coleman – you need to come early for NC State and tailgate. I don’t know if other schools tailgate before dual meets, but we are going to make that part of swimming at Texas. Plus it’s another excuse to grill meat and drink a few cold ones!

How about a web feed?!!

I feel like schools are missing out on nice recruiting outreach by not showing these great meets. Also us keyboard swammers would love to be able watch these incredible athletes do otherworldly things in early November

The purpose is allow Texas fans to watch, on traditional television, Texas football content every day of the year (and, subplot, basketball).

There are some sports that draw more eyeballs than others. Volleyball, baseball, and softball. So, especially sports that are outside of football season. College softball has put in a ton of work to expose and grow the brand, so Texas softball reaps the benefit of that by being on TV more often. The college softball World Series draws more eyes than the… Read more »
