This past weekend, four-time Australian Olympic swimming medalist Madi Wilson and Australian cricket player Matt Short announced that they had wed after getting engaged roughly 18 months ago.
A video and pictures of the wedding were shared by the two on Instagram.
The 30-year-old Wilson was a member of Australia’s 400 freestyle relay teams that won gold medals at the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games, was on Australia’s silver medal winning team in the 400 medley relay in Rio, and was a member of Australia’s 800 free relay team that won bronze in Tokyo.
Wilson predominantly focused on freestyle during the latter half of her career, but also excelled in backstroke, including winning silver in the 100 back at the 2015 World Championships.
Wilson planned to compete a the Paris Olympics, but a pregnancy kept her from participating.
In August, Wilson gave birth to her and Matt’s son, Austin.
In addition to medaling at the Olympics, Wilson was a part of eight relay teams that won gold medals and seven silver medals across four different long course World Championship meets.
Wilson announced her retirement from swimming this past January.
The 29-year-old Short has been a member of Australia’s national cricket team since 2023. He is the captain of the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and is a member of the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket, a six-team league in the United States.
The wedding footage posted Instagram shows the two partaking in a ceremony in a garden setting, and then posing for pictures with each other and Austin. More footage showed the couple taking photos on a beach.
