Ana Hazlehurst of North Baltimore Aquatic Club stole the show at the Maryland LSC Senior Championships, winning 5 events and breaking an LSC record over three decades old. The meet took place on February 23-26 in St. Mary’s County, MD.
Maryland Swimming is known for its development of several decorated olympians throughout the years such as Michael Phelps, Katie Hoff, Elizabeth Pelton, and Anita Nall. With times from these swimmers adorning its record books, it is no easy feat to mark your name in Maryland Swimming history.
That didn’t stop Hazlehurst who erased the 31-year-old 15-16 100 breast record set by Olympic relay gold medalist Anita Nall.
Hazlehurst first tied Nall’s record with a 1:02.09 back in January at the 2023 VA ISCA SCY National Championships, but this time, she shattered the record, lowering it to a 1:01.33.
The previous record, 1:02.09 was set by Nall in 1992, the same year that she competed in the summer Olympics in Barcelona at just 16 years old. She took home Olympic gold in the medley relay, silver in the 100 meter breast, and bronze in the 200 meter breast. Earlier that year, she broke the world record in the 200 meter breast at just 15 years old.
Hazlehurst saw great improvements since this meet last season when she only brought home one gold in the 100 breast in 2022. This year, she took home gold in five events, including the 100 and 200 breast, 200 and 400 IM, and 200 fly.

- NBAC’s Caitlin Hurley pulled off a distance freestyle hat trick, bringing home gold in the 500, 1000 and 1650 free.
- Katy Pacher of NBAC scooped up wins in both the 100 and 200 free, and a one second drop from her seed time landed her first place in the 100 fly with a 55.37.
Other Highlights – Boys
- Eagle Swim Team’s Caiden Bowers was crowned in five individual events over the weekend: the 100 and 200 breast, 50 and 100 fly, and the 200 IM.
- Joseph Hayburn of Annapolis Swim Club also took home gold in the 50, 100 and 200 back, and the 50 and 100 free.
- Luke Corey of Naval Academy Aquatic Club placed top-3 in every one of his events and won the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles for a hat trick of his own.
