Edmond, OK – The American Energy Swim Club (AESC) is pleased to announce that Titus Knight has been selected as the new Head Coach for the Club, effective March 1, 2022.
Knight joined AESC as the Assistant Head Coach in March 2020 and also served as the club’s Senior Assistant Coach in 2018/2019. He has been serving as the Interim Head Coach since the role became vacant in December 2021.
An ASCA Level 5 Certified coach, Knight brings a wealth of coaching experience from USA Swimming clubs, including Mission Viejo Nadadores, Golden West Swim Club, Jenks Trojan Swim Club and Trident Aquatic Club, where he served as the Senior and Age Group Head Coach from 2015-2018. Knight also coached and consulted at the high school and collegiate levels for Owasso Public Schools, Claremore High School and Golden West College.
During Coach Knight’s time at Trident Aquatic Club, he was recognized as the Central Zone Region 8’s Hank Enterline Sectional Coach of the Year and Oklahoma Swimming’s Senior Coach of the Year. In addition, Coach Knight received USA Swimming’s Junior National Team Coach Recognition from 2016-2018 for having had an athlete qualify for the Team USA Olympic Trials and USA Swimming’s World Junior Team.
Knight holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, where he swam collegiately, achieving NCAA All-American, National Finalist and All Big Ten 1st Team accolades. Knight is a 2-time Team USA Olympic Trials qualifier and trained under Sam Freas at Oklahoma Baptist University, where he served as a mentor to OBU athletes.
When asked about his coaching philosophy, Coach Knight responded, “I firmly believe in investing in people not athletes. One day swimming will end and real life begins. My goal is to equip kids with the skills, work ethic and grit it takes to be successful beyond the pool!”
AESC’s Board President, Cindy LIghtfoot, said, “the Board is excited and confident that Coach Knight’s leadership and experience will galvanize our club’s mission and the rich tradition AESC has been proud to deliver to our community over the past six decades.”
