The United States had another big night at the Pan American Games, taking home 6 gold medals on night 3 in Lima, Peru.

Annie Lazor and Will Licon each clocked new Pan American Games Records in their respective 200m breaststroke races, with the former notching a podium-topping time of 2:21.40, while the latter crushed 2:07.62. For Licon, his time is a big-time personal best, becoming the 4th fastest American in the process.

Andrew Abruzzo clinched another individual medal by winning the men’s 800m free, also establishing a new Pan American Games Record, as this is the first Games in which the race has been contested. Abruzzo’s time was 7:54.70.

Daniel Carr kept the momentum going with a 100m backstroke gold medal, registering a huge PB of 53.50 to mark just the 2nd time the Cal Bear had ever been under the 54-second threshold.

Margo Geer and Phoebe Bacon also wrangled up gold in their events of the 100m free and 100m back, respectively, to help set the Americans further apart in the overall medal table with a whopping 30 medals in all.

Wouldn’t he be the 3rd Cal Bear behind Murphy and Pebley?

“the Cal Bear” not “a Cal Bear.” AKA – it’s the 2nd time that Carr has been under, not that any Cal Bear has been under.

Today Expectations
Women 50 free – Usually I would bet Etiene, but she is not very good (World terrible) also, so I Think Geer will take this one
Men 50 free – Fratus
Women 400 IM: US vs Canada, tough call, but even Bardach might have a shot here
Men 400 IM: Toughest call, Peribonio, Brandonn, Bentz and Swanson.. a little behind Santos
Women 4×200: US to lose based on what we saw until here, unless Mann goes very bad based on her 400 free, and we won´t have prelims
Men 4×200: BRA to lose for same reasons of US, but It might be easier than the women side
