(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Westmont women’s swimming has added Aisa Jurado to its roster ahead of its second-ever season as a program, head coach Jill Jones Lin announced.
“Aisa had already committed to Westmont when she reached out to me about joining the team,” Jones Lin said. “Within 30 minutes of talking with her I knew she was going to be a great addition to our growing program.”
Jurado graduated from La Serna High School, where she swam varsity for three years and served as team captain this past season.
“I am so blessed to be able to continue my swimming career at the collegiate level,” Jurado said. “There are so many reasons I look forward to swimming at Westmont, as I cannot wait to swim among determined and hardworking teammates. To continue to learn and grow under amazing new coaches is thrilling. I look forward to seeing what God has in store for me as I get to swim for the college of my dreams.”
Jurado was a finalist at the Chino Hills Husky Invitational every year and twice qualified for the CIF Finals. In consecutive years, Jurado earned the Most Improved Award on her La Serna High School team.
“Aisa’s ability to pick up swimming quickly and improve a considerable amount during her first two years of high school tells me that she still has plenty of room to improve and I’m very excited to support her,” Jones Lin said.
Jurado’s best events are the 50 free SCY (25.13 s), 100 free SCY (58.27 s) and 100 butterfly SCY (1:05).
“Swimming for Westmont is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I have dreamed about swimming for my dream school ever since I was a little girl,” Jurado said. “I am delighted to swim in the NAIA and have the wonderful opportunity to represent Westmont in such a competitive conference. By swimming at the collegiate level, I hope that I not only grow and develop as a swimmer, but to also grow my relationship with God and become a powerful Christian leader.
“I owe all of my success to God for getting me where I am now and I am so excited to see his plan unfold for me. I know there will be difficult times ahead and I will be tested physically, mentally and spiritually, but the atmosphere of Westmont will remind me of my faith and who to lean on. By developing a new bond with my teammates, I look forward to this amazing journey.”
Jurado is the sixth member of Westmont women’s swimming’s incoming recruiting class, joining Bridget Hoth, Emma Washam, Morgan Shattuck, Cayla Won and Rachel Peden.
