Ryan Lee is a 13-year old club swimmer for Speed Aquatics in California. He made a video documenting a day in his life as a Speed swimmer, starting at the time he wakes up to turn off his alarm before the crack of dawn. He interviews his coaches, and they talk about the parts of the team that they love, as well as their important life and swimming philosophies.
The team will head to the MVN Summer Junior Olympics July 29 – August 2. The meet is open to member teams of Southern California Swimming. Hosted by the Mission Viejo Nadadores, the meet will see some of the rising age group stars in Southern California go head to head.
Lee hasqualified to swim at this meet in the 13-14 age group. His event schedule right now only includes the 100 meter free. He’s been a 1:02.78 this year to qualify, posting that time at the California JAG Championships last month.
He’s a solid sprint freestyler, as his 50 free isn’t far off the cut. He’s broken 30 with a 29.51. The qualifying standard sits at a 29.10. He’ll have plenty of time to swim under the 15 & up time standards before turning 15 next year.
