Speedo Australia Re-Signs Cameron McEvoy Until June 2017

Young Australian star Cameron McEvoy has re-upped with Speedo Australia on a three-year contract, which will keep him in suits until at least June of 2017 – a year after a probable Olympic appearance in Rio.

The announcement comes on the back-half of McEvoy’s first Commonwealth Games, where he’s earned four medals so far: silver in the 200 free and 100 free, plus gold in the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay. While the medals have been encouraging, his times have fallen somewhere just short of expectations, leading many to speculate that he’s waiting until Pan Pacs for a full taper. For example, he was a 47.65 at Australian Nationals in the 100 free earlier this year, but was only a 48.34 in Glasgow.

“Speedo has been there through all of the great moments of my swimming career, along with those not so great, and has moved with me to heights I never could have imagined. I am happy and grateful to be able to move through to the next stage of my swimming career with the team at Speedo”, says McEvoy of the sponsorship.

McEvoy signed his first Speedo sponsorship in 2011, at just 17 years old, before going on to qualify for the Australian Olympic Team.

The biggest individual moment of his career thus far came at the 2013 World Championships, where he was 4th in the 100 free. McEvoy, who’s still only 20 years old, seems perpetually on the verge of becoming the World’s best sprinter, and every year gets more-and-more experience toward that goal.

Well, what’s the $ value or approximate value of the contract? Give us the numbers like they do in any other sport please (merci, bitte).

LOL, alright top secret I suppose (except to the NSA and IRS). Well, maybe it’s due to the magnitude of the $ amounts in question. Best not to advertise then.
