CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois swimming and diving team is set to start their season at Shea Natatorium Friday Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. against McKendree.
Both the men’s and women’s will compete Friday against the Bearcats in the first dual meet of the season.
“We are excited to get our 2023-24 competition season underway tomorrow against a tough opponent in McKendree,” head coach Geoff Hanson said. “The Bearcats will be the first of many teams who will challenge us this year and ultimately push us to become a better team in the end”
The Salukis began facing off with the McKendree in 2017. Since then the women’s team has led with a 5-1 overall record against the Bearcats and the men have a 2-4 record.
Key returners this season for the Salukis include the 2023 MVC Freshman of the Year Olivia Herron, and Alex Santiago who was a member of the 2023 All-MAC Second Team.
The meet against Mckendree will be livestreamed on Facebook Live.
