Kyle Chalmers is an Olympic champion and after Paris, a 9x Olympic medalist, winning two silvers and a bronze at these most recent games. The Australian swimming legend swam the 100 free individually or on a relay 8 times over the course of the 9-day meet. In those 8 swims, he was 48.0 once (prelims 100 free), 47.xx 6 times, and 46.5 anchoring Australia’s silver medal 4×100 free relay.
Chalmers was kind enough to take some time out of his engagement celebration in Norway to chat about the highs and lows of his experience in Paris. Coming into his 3rd Olympics, Chalmers was dealing with injury and had to change coaches and training locations 4 months prior. Despite this, he is still walking away with his 3rd individual medal in the 100 free, a historic feat.

Love King Kyle. Dude always shows up.
Has anyone see the Greg Dou cette video on YouTube about the purple faces in the Olympics targeting Huske and Smith? The guy has 2 million followers and I think that video might have some serious accusations
Doping is more common than people think
All of the Americans looked purple after swimming. I thought it was some kind of make up.
He always comes up as a pretty decent chap.
My comment mentioned a name earlier in this article which flagged it and subsequently got it deleted.
I just want to know what the beef is with a previous auburn head coach. Is that too much too ask? Everyone here is soft as play-doh apparently.
I don’t like the guy, but if you aren’t gonna explain why he’s negative or shouldn’t be supported then why even bring it up? Say it with your chest out.
I’ve noticed that also. That name is flagged for approval. I’ve seen other names (coaches and swimmers) on here that constantly get destroyed and ridiculed but they’re never flagged
Think it’s so people can’t promote him and his podcast in the comments. SS also flags the name of a certain other swimming news website.
I do not mind them flagging the name of that inferior website.
Uh, maybe you could scroll down like 2-3 comments?
Unfortunately Brett Hawkey Hawke has now publicly shown his true colors. Anyone who worked with him at Auburn saw so behind closed doors. If you wait long enough someone will show you who they really are. Well he has now shown the world. Especially this year. Getting kicked off deck at the world champs. Openly criticizing various swimmers (then going on to try and defend them again)
Now from his Olympic commentary as well.
He has always wanted to be relevant. In believe this stems from the fact that he never succeeded internationally as a swimmer.
n/a
Pretty sure he also had at least one 46. split that you should mention as it won Australia a silver medal on night one. The article talks about numerous 47 point splits.
Completely agreed, I’ll put that in. I just thought it was mind blowing that he only swam 1 race, but he swam it 8 times in 9 days. and he swam it as fast/faster than everyone else (not named Pan Zhanle) every time he swam it.
Also kinda amazing that of his 9 medals, 8 are for swimming the 100 free either individually or on relays.
Nice! If you get a chance to chat to Regan Smith or Caeleb Dressel I’d like to know who’s decision it was for them to swim heats of the mixed medley relay, them or the coaches, plus how Regan values her first Olympic gold medal being in a race she didn’t swim.
kyle firing two hits against the former auburn coach in quick succession. first a removed follow on insta, and now he gives yet another interview with swimswam. I am absolutely here for it
Can you provide any background on this? Is there a feud going on?
the link between the interview and unfollow is not causal, as kyle is a regular guest here.
the comment refers to brett hawke, who posted a (now deleted) video about pan’s wr, saying that he was d*ping and that kyle was the actual winner. it was picked up by mainstream media and was a source of vitriol directed at kyle. some people noticed that kyle unfollowed brett afterwards. brett also has made no secret of his hate for swimswam, which stems from a factual article about transfers from auburn. he regularly trashes them in his streams, and allegedly called braden a p*ssy at us trials
He deletes a video when things get a bit too hot and he has to deal with the consequences of his actions but he’s got the Gaul to call Braden a p**sy – sounds about right for him
Yes apparently Brett Hawke has a problem with SwimSwam lol (https://swimswam.com/brett-hawke-replacing-mark-schubert-as-head-coach-of-californias-the-swim-team/#comment-1434702).
If I remember correctly, there were comments on previous articles alleging that he holds a grudge against swimmers if they choose to do an interview with SwimSwam, rather than Brett’s podcast.
Daily reminder that Brett’s most famous pupils (Cielo and Bousquet) both popped for PEDs.
