Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Julia Dennis from Oxford, Mississippi has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville’s class of 2026.

“SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Louisville in the fall of 2022! So grateful for the family, coaches, teammates, and friends that have made this dream a possibility. All the glory to God- GO CARDS!! ❤️🖤⚜️”

Dennis is a junior at Oxford High School. She swims year-round with Shockwave Aquatics and was the club’s first USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She specializes in sprint and mid-distance freestyle and is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 50 free and a Winter Junior qualifier in the 100 free. Dennis won both the 50 free (23.00) and 500 free (5:05.24) at the 2020 Mississippi MHSAA Class 2 State Swimming and Diving Championships last October, notching lifetime bests in both events. A year ago she won the 50 (23.42) and came in 3rd in the 200 free (1:58.58).

She recently updated her personal best times in the SCY 50/100/200 free at the Tupelo Top TYR Invitational, where she won the 50 free and 100 free and placed 3rd in the 200 free.

Dennis is the Mississippi Swimming LSC state record-holder in the 50y free, 100y free, and 50m free. Her best SCY times include:

  • 50 Free: 22.62
  • 100 Free: 50.14
  • 200 Free: 1:52.19
  • 500 Free: 5:05.24

Dennis will join the Cardinals with fellow class of 2026 commits Ella Welch, Jiselle Miller, Jordan Durocher, Paige Kuwata, and Rye Ulett. Dennis would have been Louisville’s 3rd-fastest sprinter last season behind Gabi Albiero (22.03) and Christiana Regenauer (22.32). Kaylee Wheeler (22.99) also went under 23 seconds in the 50. Six Cardinals swam sub-51s in the 100 free: Albiero (48.60), Regenauer (48.91), Alena Kraus (49.40), Tristen Ulett (49.68), Wheeler (50.38), and Katie Schorr (50.42). Dennis will overlap with Albiero, Regenauer, and Ulett.
