On the first session of the 2018 Women’s MAC Championships, Akron rolled to convincing wins in both the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. The Zips broke the conference record in the 800 free relay as well.
The Akron team of Madison Myers (24.56), Paloma Marrero (27.63), Sadie Fazekas (22.83), and Susan Franz (22.18) combined to post a 1:37.20, which is well under the NCAA B cut, allowing them to swim it at the NCAAs if they pick up an individual and a relay A cut this weekend. Sadie Fazekas‘ fly split is one of the fastest we’ve seen in any of the conference meets this season. Coupled with Franz’s anchor, Akron had the fastest back half of any mid-major team thus far. That time was the 3rd fastest in Akron program history. EMU’s Delaney Duncan split a 26.59 breaststroke according to the results, but I’ve haven’t been able to confirm that there wasn’t timing error with the split. If true, that would be one of the fastest times in the country this season.
In the 800 free relay, Akron was in control from start to finish. Fazekas blasted a 1:45.93 on the lead-off leg to break the Akron team record. After that, nothing could stop the Zips, as Paulina Nogaj, Jackie Pash, and Ellie Nebraska posted times of 1:47.37, 1:48.90, and 1:47.72 respectively to expand the Akron lead. Their final time of 7:09.92 was both a school record and a MAC record, and came in just off the NCAA B cut.
I can not find a live stream feed either (MAC site, Ohio site) and it looked as if results went up after the session on Meet Mobile. Diving is on Divemeets.https://secure.meetcontrol.com/divemeets/system/livestats.php?event=stats-5198-7140-1-Started
Can anyone find the live results for the championships? As of now, meet mobile isn’t working either.
It’s real, she’s that fast.
