Day 1 prelims were good for Cal. They lead the way in swimming points with 3 up and 5 down individually and both relays in the top 8. Pre-meet co favorite Texas put 2 up and 3 down and only have one relay up with their 400 medley relay ending up 9th. NC State, Stanford, Florida, and Indiana all put 3 up individually and brought back 2 relays to remain in contention.
Scoring out prelims, Cal lead the way with 145 projected points. They are followed by NC State with 125, Florida with 103, Indiana with 98, Stanford with 94, and Texas with 90.5.
Georgia had the best morning vs the psych sheet, gaining 35 points, but other key contenders also had stellar mornings. Cal picked up 24.5 points. Indiana added 19.5. Stanford added 29. Texas only grabbed 1.5 over seed. Obviously that is all subject to change tonight, but teams would certainly prefer moving up in the morning. If the seeds hold tonight Cal projects to a 171-165 lead over NC State. Full scored prelims is in the table below.

Those Wolfpack swimmers are a bunch of winners!!!!!
I’m a big Eddie Reese fan.
But he did not have his guys ready this year.
Sad to see.
Indiana and Texas both get 2 up/1 down in diving.
Congrats Mikey, James, and Andrew!
Yes but both IU and UT were 1/1 on relays so that negates most of those potential dive points
Looks like Indiana put two divers in the top eight so they will have five up in A finals tonight. That tops everyone!

No thank you.
Acevedo has to be 100 back favorite after the 44.7 this morning
Coleman Stewart went 44.5 at ACC. Split 44.3 in fly this AM, faster than Accs…I’d still stick with Stewart as favorite

2017 Summary: “That 1650 free was craaaazy and Dressel’s 40.00 was nuts.”
2018 Projected Summary: “The entire meet was insane.”
Stanford and Georgia the biggest movers up so far after the morning.Texas A&M the big loser down in terms of points lost. Cal the most swims coming back by a lot. NC State is the only team with at least 1 person in each A final.
But obviously the biggest story of the morning is Texas medley not making the A finals as they leave a lot of points of potential and really hurt their title chances now, but they do have divers that aren’t accounted for here yet.
